JUNE 2020 : The weather was perfect for a summer hike in Arizona – cool in the mornings, sunny afternoons with a chill at night to sleep comfortable in my 2 person tent.

Just that March I had started to thru hike the Arizona Trail aka AZT where I bought everything I needed for a 2 month trek with my new hiking partners, Janice and David. Starting at the Mexican border we finished 76 miles until we decided to get off trail due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This day was glorious because I was back on trail with Janice. She came down from Wyoming to walk with me.

By the time we had started this hike at Gooseberry Springs Trailhead we had already backpacked sections 32 and partial 33 around Flagstaff as well as sections north of there near the Grand Canyon.

We couldn’t get enough of this beautiful trail and were seeking out more trees. The area around Mormon Lake and Happy Jack, AZ was perfect for day hiking of the Arizona Trail!

The video below is our hike near Happy Jack, AZ. Peaceful meadows, forests and juniper groves, I couldn’t ask for a better hiking day!

Thanks for stopping by! My name is Allie and I hike, it’s what I enjoy most! Join me here on my blog and on my YouTube page as I explore our outdoors, traveling full-time in my Minnie Winnie RV in search of hiking trails across this land!

Where will I go next?
