Kicked Out! Don’t Trust the State

NOT Just Another Day on Public Land Paradise

I woke up this morning in a foul mood. Yet I didn’t truly have a reason. I just spent five days in a quiet serene Kofa national refuge with a fun guy filled with hiking and amazing sunsets. Did I mention it was really quiet?

MUST READ : The Silence of Kofa National Refuge

It makes complete sense that I woke up in the complete opposite type of camping location. It’s loud, there’s no hiking, quarter-mile off of Highway 95. At least the sunsets here are still amazing.

We left Kofa January 2nd because John had a dentist appointment on January 3rd and decided to stay at the Lake Havasu State Trust Land. We’ve never stayed there before, it was always very crowded but we had already worn out our 14 day limit at the Lake Havasu BLM from a couple of weeks previous.

We’ve been staying in Lake Havasu BLM for 3+ years every winter now. Normally we stay for maybe a week then move onto other parts of Arizona. Yet John needs to see the dentist in Lake Havasu City four times over the next two months. Since we had to stick around Lake Havasu we made the decision to bounce between all the free camping in the area during that time.

We had a plan.

I researched all the camping near Lake Havasu City and made a plan to stay put. I got necessary permits, and we were ready to stay put for two weeks in one campground but while we were there, the rules were changed.
