Hikers, backpackers and outdoor enthusiasts alike are are being told to stay home during the Coronavirus outbreak.
It’s tough for anyone who craves and needs to be outdoors.
But not all hope is lost while we hunker down and #stayhome.
Here are some nifty ways you can pass the time.
Virtual Hiking : Walk a National Scenic Trail at Home

This is first on my list because it’s the next best thing to actually being on the trail. And, bonus, it keeps us moving. Added bonus : add your pack to your back for extra virtual fun!
Walk around your home, neighborhood, backyard or anywhere you can then log your miles or steps to see where you ended up that day on the trail you choose.
I chose the PCT yet there are 26 trails to choose from including the AT and JMT!
Keep an eye out for me, I’m AllieRambles, averaging 5 miles a day. I hope I make it Canada before it snows!

I was going to hike the AZT this Spring yet was taken off trail by Covid 19. I planned on learning to tie knots along the way. I placed a PDF on my phone of various knots I wanted to learn and practice along the way.
This never happened. So I was excited to find out about this free knot tying class at AIM Adventure U. Soon I’ll know how to tie basic, essential knots that will enhance my backpacking skills!
