Adventure Awaits!

And waits. And waits…

I’m a full-time RVer and avid hiker but you wouldn’t know that as I’ve been parked next to my mom’s house in Arizona now for 2 plus weeks.

This is my homebase for now, until I buy a house or rent somewhere, but none of that is in my life plan for years. Naturally, when I need to stop for a bit this is where I park the Minnie.

Like me, the Minnie prefers forests but where “stuck” in the desert right now.

Stopping Over —- for Weeks?

Do you ever just get stuck? Maybe in a rut?

This is how I feel right now.

Yet not for lack of anything to do. On the contrary – I have too much to do. It’s overwhelming me into paralysis.

I’ve tried to chop away little by little at tasks yet at this pace more tends to be placed on my plate as I try to check off active chores.

Last you saw me I was injured, my motorcycle fell off it’s hitch rack onto me. This sorta prompted me to stop at my mom’s house for some recoup. Yet as the days ticked down I realized my massive bruise, that didn’t hurt for over a week, then started to swell and cause discomfort which then turned into pain points if I ran or flexed my right thigh.

This freaked the hell outta me! I can’t have an injury that causes permanent damage to my thigh! THAT THIGH HELPS ME CLIMB MOUNTAINS!

Hiking is my life and a deep injury could jeopardize that.

This began the moochdocking period of my stay. My intention was to move on after a few days at mom’s yet I needed to heal.

Plot Twist

I like to call unintentional changes in my life “Plot Twists“.

I was once a massive worrier, this attitude brings stress, tense muscles and bouts of angry snapping at your loved ones – it’s miserable.

Needless to say I hated myself for being a petty worrier so I changed and developed a more comedic attitude towards most “plot twists” in life.

The bike falling on me was simply a plot twist in my life. Having to stay in one place and not hike is a plot twist.

This post is turning into a self-help session. So let’s move on to how I’m reacting to these plot twists.

Having great wifi in the Minnie, I took advantage of this time and resources (aka amazing home cooked Traeger dinners with mom) to get quite a bit done.

For your sanity as well as post brevity I’ll simply list below the things I did while sitting for a long period of time, eating potato chips and drinking vodka + lemonade (man, I need to hike!).

  • Created an RV Resource page. When I began researching RVs and RV living I couldn’t find one major source for all I needed so I created one for future RV peeps! It’s ever growing and I take recommendations.
  • Revamped my Pinterest Boards. I created these cool covers for my AllieRambles Pinterest boards. They make my page easier to navigate, save stuff to Pinterest and I believe Pinterest also likes them.
  • Created my November Marketing Plan. If I want people to find my blog I have to let people know it exists, right?
  • Joined RVillage. This place is cool! RVers from all over and they welcomed me with open arms! I’m having fun and learning lots from RVillage. Request me as a friend if you’re there!
  • Got some great podcast recommendations from some awesome ladies in my RV Chick Chat Facebook Group. I like True Crime and Paranormal (ok, Bigfoot mostly) so I asked the group what they like and I received well over 40 recommendations!! If you’re an RV Chick, this is a cool group.
  • Bought a new hitch mount for my motorcycle. Needless to say, I bought a new hitch mount for transporting my motorcycle behind my RV. Pushing it up a ramp AND balancing it has proven kinda dangerous for me so I bought a hydraulic mount. Hopefully it’s a much easier process.
  • Researched vitamins I should take at my age. There’s no proof supplements help our health but as I age I worry my body is not getting what it needs from what I eat (especially since I don’t always eat healthy) so I like to take certain vitamins to help boost my health (hopefully).
  • I’m gonna start growing microgreens. I like to toss them as a side for lunch or into soups or salads. Microgreens are nutritious and tasty. I ordered my first seeds, we’ll see if I can grow them in the RV.
  • Bought a Ninja Bullet. I once made this great green smoothie with baby spinach, almond milk and bananas yet I don’t have room for the big blender in my RV. Bring on the GREENS!
  • And finally, I’m watching the election play out. WHAT.A.YEAR!

Cool Adventure Finds & Reads

Hiker meets BEAR! One on my fears comes true in video as this hiker comes across a bear in Grand Teton NP.

I started watching the journey of this woman renovating an RV. I’m excited to watch progress as Aleshia conquers this huge task of changing the 25 year old motorhome in 6 months.

Curious to what the AZT looks like or where to go? I’m hiking it mile by mile and have filmed each trek. Check out my list here: My Arizona Trail (AZT) Hiking Journey

I’ll be on the road again soon! Please check back for more RVing, hiking and hopefully dual sport riding!

How are the microgreens coming along?

LOL. I forgot the soil to put them in so the growing of microgreens will be delayed for a bit – prob until the new year.
